Biography

Harrison Light began playing the piano at age 5, and during his childhood found that he had an ear for music and was skilled at improvisation, and he developed a strong interest in jazz.  He studied privately through high school and after attended the University of Central Florida, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in Piano Performance. Harrison’s early professional experiences came not only by free-lancing, but also by playing in locally well-known bands such as 11 Red Apples, Altamonte Jazz Ensemble, Frankie and the West End Boys, and the SynD’cats.

He has over 18 years of piano experience, including solo as well as ensembles such as duets, trios, combos, and big bands. Harrison also has a great deal of acquaintance accompanying strings, brass, percussion, woodwinds, and vocalists. Priding himself on his versatility, Harrison’s styles of playing include classical, jazz, pop, funk, and R&B. He also enjoys composing, arranging, and orchestrating for various ensembles, and working with synthesizers.

Harrison has performed in countless venues including Bob Carr, The Amway Center, Hard Rock Live, House of Blues, The Social, Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh, and The Cotton Club in Atlanta to name just a few. He has performed in many hotels including The Gaylord Palms, The Waldorf Astoria, The Westin Grand Bohemian, and The J.W. Marriott, and for all types of events including weddings, conventions, festivals, parties, and church services. Harrison also has a great deal of musical theatre experience including Broadway Across America (Sweet Charity and Legally Blonde) and musical productions for Walt Disney World including Harambe Nights Festival of the Lion King. Harrison’s current bands include The Harrison Light Trio, The All-Skates, and The GoodRub. He is also employed giving private piano lessons to students of all ages. He frequently works at Walt Disney World accompanying students in choral workshops, performing in “Off-Kilter” at Epcot, and playing in the Grand Floridian Orchestra.

Harrison loves his job and looks forward to every opportunity to play music. He believes in having a positive outlook and always striving for improvement. A hard worker, he never takes the easy road. Rather, he chooses the path to accomplish goals the precise way, and it reflects in his work.  He lives in Winter Park and has two children, Maxwell and Hannah.
